John and Carolyn have been exhibiting artists since 1971.  Born in Boston, MA, John studied at the American Academy of Art and Ray Vogue School of Design in Chicago, IL.  He is largely self-taught through experimentation. Carolyn, his wife, was born in Evanston, IL, and studied at Washington University, St Louis, MO, and The Art Institute of Chicago.

John and Carloyn exhibit widely in the Midwest, New England and some in Florida. Their work is in many private and public collections, has won many awards, and has been shown in many galleries.

Published works are "Apertures to Anywhere," a Collection of Poetry by Phyllis Ford Choyke, and "Selected Poems," by Helen Winter.

For the past fifteen years John and Carolyn have been creating reverse-acrylic paintings.  The work begins with a clear acrylic sheet.  The acrylic paint is put on one side, knowing that what is laid down will be seen from the other side. The final painting is then varnished on the back to protect the painting.  The painting is then turned over for the completed image. The acrylic sheet used takes some precautions, however under normal conditions there are no problems.  Some of the paintings are on mar-resistant acrylic.  The final work has a high-gloss which is unique.  There is no computer generation involved and each painting is an original creation.  Though not widely known this is a valid process.
